King Carpet, 6 Alarms, King Of Prussia, Upper Merion  | | Montco 911 recieved 1 cell phone call from a passerby reporting the bldg fire. P/D arrived o/s reporting heavy smoke & fire to the rear. Company 47 was first on scene reporting heavy fire to the rear of a 1-1/2 story, 100 x 50 commercial carpet store/wharehouse. An interior attack was attempted but companies were forced out of the bldg due to extremely heavy fire conditions and several propane tanks exploding from fork trucks. An exterior attack was then ordered with 4 ladder pipes, 3 deck guns and numerous large diameter handlines in svc. Numerous 5" supply lines were dropped with 1 lay being approx 2000' long, with 2 trucks set up in relay. A collapse zone was set up due to deteriorating bldg conditions and a roof collapse. The heavy fire had been knocked down by 2300, but numerous hot pockets remained.
