Battalion-7 had fire in the basement of a 2 story eor dwelling, placed 2 and 2 in svc requested the box to be filled out. Fire under control in approx 20 mins.

West Philadelphia had a busy night. This is one of four jobs in the west this night. 2 story twin, 16 x 45, 2nd floor fully involved with extension to the "B" exposure 2nd floor. Originally dispatched as a tactical box. Battalion-11 requested the box to be filled out and all hands to go to work. Ladder-13 was the assigned R.I.T. Rescue-1, Squad-47, and Medic-23 with the working fire 2&2, and Deputy-1 with the all hands.

B/C-1 Had heavy fire from a large car crusher. Placed all hands in svc with master streams and handlines. Fire was placed under in approx 40 mins. FCC advised B/C-1 that he had 5 engines with 2 being pipelines dispatched on the original box due to calls. 5 engines, 2 ladders, squad-47, Ladder-4 for the R.I.T. The car crusher is a familiar site at the foot of the Platt bridge on the right hand side heading towards the stadiums.

B/C-11 had all hands in svc for a 2 story m.o.r. store 1st floor Apartment above. All hands were evacuated from the bldg for a short time for exterior attack. Collapse of front cornice and collapse in the rear. Initially had heavy fire 1st floor with extension to the 2nd floor and thru the roof. Secondary search discovered an elderly female DOA.

Squrt-57 arrived on scene with heavy smoke showing from the 2nd floor, placed 2 & 2 in svc. B/C-7 arrived and reported heavy fire in the 2nd floor rear, req the box to be filled out and placed all hands in svc. Fire was knocked and placed under control in approx 20 mins.

B/C-7 had heavy fire in a 2 story m.o.r. requested the box to be filled out. Placed all hands in svc along with Squad-47. Fire under control in approx 20 minutes

B/C-7 had heavy fire 2nd floor of a 2 story occupied m.o.r. dwelling. Placed 2&2 in svc. Fire knocked and under control in under 10 minutes.

Battalion-9 had the River box respond for evacuations along the Schuylkill River @ River rd & Shawmont ave. Approx 30 homes and mobile homes were evacuated to the Shawmont school, 2 elderly residents were transported to the hospital. Heavy rains throughout the day had the river out over it's banks in the area.

Police were on scene for a stabbing, had a male perp barricaded in the house. Male set fire to the house. B/c-11 placed 2&2 in svc once he could gain entry. Male perp was transported to H.U.P. as a code blue, burns to the face and smoke inhalation, unstable vitals. unk cond of stabbing victim. Fire knocked and placed under control in apprx 5 mins once entry was gained. Eng's 41 & sqt-57, Lad's 24&6, Lad-13 for the R.i.t. Squad-47, 3 medic units. 1 for stabbing victim, 1 for perp/burn victim, 1 for F/G stand by.

B/C-11 had a 2 story Twin dwelling approx 18 x 45, heavy fire 2nd floor. Ladder Companies made rescues from the porch roof. Placed all hands in svc. 1 victim transported to H.U.P.

B/C-7 had a 5 story U shaped apt bldg approx 100 x 200. Fire in the basement with extension to upper floors. Numerous handlines in svc.

B/C-11 had heavy fire in the 1st floor of a 2 story m.o.r. dwelling. Placed 2 & @ in svc, bringing the fire under in approx 10 mins.

P/L-40 arrived o/s reporting heavy smoke from a 1 story Chinese Restaraunt. 3 lines stretched and operating, Truck co's opened the roof and vented. Fire under control by Deputy 1 holding all hands.

P/L 40 arrived o/s 1st reporting medium smoke 2nd floor of a 2 story mor dwelling. B/c-7 placed 2 & 2 in svc. Fire was in a 2nd floor rear bedroom. Fire was K/D and under control in approx 5 mins.

Box was struck for the Church fire at 58th & Walnut. Engine-57 arrived o/s to find a 2-1/2 story mor dwelling with fire on the 1st floor. Placed 2 and 2 in svc. B/c-7 placed the fire under within 10 minutes, recalling the 3rd & 4th in engines.

Engine 68 was flagged down on their way to another box at 70th & Woodland. They pulled up to medium to heavy smoke 1st & 2nd floors. Fire in the basement. Placed 2 & 2 in service, and requested the box to filled out.

While responding to a call, Ladder-13 struck another vehicle, then went into the front of a corner store. The driver of the struck car was DOA. 5 Firefighters and 3 other civilians were also injured. Witnesses state the car blew the red light.

Battalion-1 had a 5 story bldg, approx 300 x 300. Heavy smoke 4th floor, placed all hands in svc on arrival. 2nd alarm shortly following. Numerous handlines in svc. Good knock on the fire. Bldg was under renovations, apparently converting upper floors into loft apartments. 2 firefighters transported to Jefferson, with unk injuries.

B/C-7 arrived to find a 3 story stand alone, approx 16 X 60, heavy fire 1st floor. Placed 2&2 in svc and req the box to be filled out with all hands to go in svc. Ladder-13 & Squrt-57 set up in the front along with a couple deck guns and numerous handlines worked from the exposures. eng-68, squad-47, p/l-5, squrt-57, ladders-13 & 6, Rescue-1, special call for p/l-34 with air unit-1, ladder-4 as the R.I.T. Battalions-7 & 11, Deputy-1.

Tanker truck loaded to capacity rolls over at Bartram & Island. Contents leaking from 2 compartment hatches, into the sewer system. At the time these pictures were posted, a number wasn't put on the size of the spillage, nor had it been reported on where the system lead to. They did tell the Water Dept. to expect the Maximum amount. These pictures were taken from a block away, so bare with me. Was as close as I could get.

B/C-11 had a 3 story m.o.r. commercial 1st floor, apts above. Fire in the basement. Had ladders prepare for rescue, 2nd floor rear. All hands in svc, s/c rescue-1, squad-47, medic-3, ladder-6 was the r.i.t., dep-1 and air unit-1.

B/C-11 had fire in a trash compactor at ground level and in the chute on the 12th floor. The M.I.R.A. Box was struck and all hands were placed in svc. 2 add'l medic units were requested above the 2 on the assignment. Crews were placed in svc for fire extinguishment as well as rescue & ventilation. The upper floors of the bldg were being evacuated due to heavy smoke conditions. Several residents were treated on scene with 1 resident being transported for smoke inhalation, believed to be minor.

Battalion-11 had heavy fire thru the roof of a 3 story stand alone. He placed all hands in service with master streams for an exterior attack. Once the bulk of the fire was knocked, master streams were shut down and crews entered the bldg to extinguish hot spots and perform overhaul. After the fire was placed under control & the assignment reduced to 2 & 2, A partial roof collapse occurred, coming down on top of members from piplene-5 & Ladder-6. The R.I.T. was put to work along with Squad-47 & Rescue-1 to rescue the trapped members. Deputy-1 ordered the full box to be re-dispatched with an additional R.I.T. 2 Members were transported to H.U.P. with minor injuries to the neck and back. Fortunately no one was seriously injured.

B/C-11 had a 4 story apt bldg. 200 x 75. Heavy fire in the basement, heavy smoke throughout all 4 floors on the west end of the bldg. All hands went in svc, with rescue-1, Squad-47, R.I.T. 13, Deputy-1, Eng-13 with air unit-1, medics-23 & 9, & EMS supervisor being special called with the all hands. 4 lines were placed in svc. Approx 50 residents were relocated to Overbrook High school. Medics treated some residents for minor smoke inhalation on the scene. Original box had eng's 54, 41, 16 & Sqt-57, Ladders 24 & 6, B/C-11 & 7.

Companies operated with an interior attack for a short time until it was realized the fire had gotten above the cieling and was travelling the roof. 1 and 2 story auto body shop and furniture wharehouse approx 75 x 1 city block. Good combination for lots of fire

6 Alarm fire, 11th & Spruce @ the old Lowes Hotel. Looking at picture labeled as #35, I see a fireman wearing a helmet, left top. In the picture labeled as #11, The window on the top floor fully engulfed with fire was occupied by the firefighters you see on the level just below that, just seconds before. I believe they are members of Engine-1. The date I know is incorrect but close.
